Pioneer Day - My 36th Birthday (Ugh)

This year like every year since I was born - (well maybe I have missed a few here and there) we went to the Ogden Pioneer Day Parade. This is a tradition that I have loved since I was little. My mom used to take us every year and every time I thought it was just for me. My Birthday has always been a celebration...well for the state of Utah anyway. This year I went with my kids and my sister Jen and most of her kids. As Tradition, Ron didn't go. Sitting in the hot sun, on the ground, watching a parade is not exactly his cup of tea. That's okay because me and Jen like to do it. I love the parade! I can't believe I am going to admit this but I get emotional when it starts! The motorcycle cops cruise up and down with their sirens on, then the Flag comes and everyone stands up and puts their hands on their hearts and the military planes go flying over...I know I am a nerd but I love it. My Grandpa had an old covered wagon and he always said that he was going to fix it up and let me ride in it in the parade. Well that didn't happen. Our favorite things in this years parade were: The missionaries (they got more applause then anyone, it was cool!), the dinosaur from the Dinosaur Park and Jonah met Stan the Bird from the Newspaper.

After the parade we went to the Pioneer Museum behind the Ogden Temple. They had activities for the kids - the boys made old fashioned yo-yos and covered wagons. Hannah made a bonnet and a rag doll. On the wall going down the stairs in the museum is a picture of my ancestors George and Jane Kerr. He was Ogden's first Train Depot Master. That was cool to see and show the kids. We also went to Farr's Ice Cream and later that night had a Bar-B-Q at my mom's.

Bike Parade, Breakfast and Water Party. Busy Morning!

We had a Ward/Neighborhood party this morning at the park. There was a Bike Parade: Noah rode my old bike, my nephew Cody rode Noahs, Jonah had his own and Hannah had her very first, new, non-hand me down bike. Ron bought it for her Thursday night so she would have something to ride for the parade. She loves it. Ron spent some time with her on Friday night teaching her how to ride it. She is doing really good!!! After the parade we had breakfast at the park. I had to restrain my kids from getting seconds and thirds until eveyone had some. Then there were the innocent "Water Games". This lasted Maybe 10 minutes until it turned into the "Water Wars". No one was safe even with babies and expensive cameras. Luckily I didn't meet the open end of a bucket of water as some people did.......

I found this on ebay. I need to get one for each of my kids. I wonder if they make one that says my WIFE won't stop reading for Ron.

The Hottest Toy for Christmas this year.

Happy Hour play set for Barbies. WHO buys this for their kids??????? WHO decided in a toy company board meeting that this would be a great toy for kids??? I found this on ebay a little while ago and was quit shocked to see that many of them have sold!!!! What are people thinking? Teach your kids early to drink? Do they also make Red-Light District Play Set? Cheap Motel Drug Deal Play Set? Ken's Smoke Shop Play Set? Tattoos R Us Play Set? Okay I could go on forever but I guess you get the message........

I found a new web site to sell my scrapbooks. ETSY? Ever heard of it? I hadn't until I saw it on Nikki's blog. It's just for selling homemade items. Perfect for the mini scrapbooks I make. Ebay has been a little slow lately so I thought I would try this new one. I only have one thing listed so far. This baby girl album. So check out my store. www.michelelovestoscrap.etsy.com . I still have some on ebay under Nojo-12 and if they don't sell there then I will move them to this new one. I wish I could quit work and just scrapbook for a living!!!!

Fireworks

I love fireworks!!!! I guess it has something to do with being born in Utah on July 24th. There are always fireworks, parties and parades and I love all that stuff. When I was little I used to think it was all for me! We spent the 4th of July watching fireworks in Hooper with my mom, niece and nephew.

First FRY of the season

Hannah got french fried last week while she was playing on the Howell's totally awesome waterslide. Ron said he put sunscreen on her.....but I guess it wasn't good enough.

This is my screen saver on my computer at work. Yes, I am a bit obsessed with Twilight. Only 25 days until Breaking Dawn comes out. YES!!!!!!! I am also obsessed with my kids as you can see from all the pictures and with funky Mountain Dew bottles.....
