The Tooth Fairy

Jonah lost a tooth last night, then informed me with a mischievous look on his face, that he knew the tooth fairy was not real because he and Noah had found their missing teeth in my dresser drawer. Little Stinks! This was a sad day for me. My babies are growing up too fast. Of course it had to happen, they are 10 and 8 years old. That was a pretty long run, right? Actually I think they have been suspicious for a while, but because of Jonah's love of money he hadn't confessed until now. He did ask me last time he lost one:
Jonah: "Mom is the tooth fairy real?"
Me: "Do you believe the tooth fairy is real, because if you don't, then you won't get anymore money for your teeth".
That ended it right there, but this time the cat is out of the bag. He still put his tooth under his pillow last night and magically some money did appear, but that might be the last time. I guess I should have thrown away the teeth every time, but I just couldn't - they are part of my kids! Plus my mom saved mine and gave them back to me later when I was older. I think I still have them, ew! I told them both not to say anything to Hannah or any of their friends. I don't want my kids to be the bearer of bad news to anyone else. Now I am just waiting for the next big question: "Mom is Santa real?" That one will kill me!

Jonah's Baptism

Jonah and Cody looking extra handsome

Jonah, Bradley and Cody
Great Grandma Nielsen and Aunt Becky
Best Buds! Jonah and Brewer
The Thompsons (or the FLDS family which is what it looks like!)
The Flint Children
Grandpa Mike and Grandma Lu
Ron, Jonah and Grandpa Flint
Grandma Kathy

I guess since Holly has already blogged about Jonah's baptism then I probably should. :)
Jonah and his cousin Cody were baptized together on Saturday August 16 in Plain City. Since they were so close in age we thought it would be neat for them to do this together. They had great support from family and friends and I was as you can see picture happy as usual. Ron baptized him (only 1 dunk! Noah went down 3 times...Ron was a little nervous and said some words out of order). Jonah was confirmed by his Grandpa Flint - Ron's dad. Ron's grandpa Taylor had confirmed him when he got baptized so we have stuck with the tradition. Jen made her excellent chicken salad and we had other yummy foods after. Then we took Jonah to Frosted Rock for an extra treat. We love that place! Can you tell?

Back To School

Back to School time. It's crazy how fast time flies. I can't believe Noah is already in 5th grade and Jo is in 3rd. What happened to my babies? We started on a later track this year so they at least had a longer summer vacation then just the 3 weeks like last year. Sometimes I like the track system and sometimes I don't. Luckily we have never had to deal with a babysitter situation since Ron is home during the day. Jonah has Mrs. Thompson and he says she's nice. Noah has Mrs. Gamble. He hates when I try to get a picture with his teacher so I just took one from the doorway. I took the morning off from work and went over with them to eat breakfast and meet their teachers.

Nielsen Family Reunion

We have a reunion every year for my dad's side of the family. We usually go camping or boating. This year my dad was in charge and we went to North Fork campground. We played traditional "Nielsen Family" games like Bingo, Fishpond and horseshoes. We also had face painting for the kids, smores and a talent show night. My sister Jen played her mandolin and her husband and son played guitar. Noah and Jonah told jokes and my dad and his cousin did some interesting dancing around the fire..... My brothers Matt and Tyson came down from Montana to come to the reunion so my mom came also.

Scrapbooking with Lisa Bearnson and Friends

My Friends Holly, Noreen, Tiffany and I just had the funnest (is that proper English? Oh well!) couple of days at a scrapbook getaway. We went to the Lisa Bearnson Adventures on August 5-6. It was all based around a book called STARGIRL that Lisa read and loved. She sent us all a copy of the book to read before we came. Ya....um... I was the only one that didn't get it read all the way. Breaking Dawn took precedence! Holly had to give me her "cliff notes". We got to tour and shop at 3 local scrapbook manufactures and the magazine offices. Later that night we went to a Keynote address by Lisa, made some cards and scrapbooked. Okay.... so we really didn't get that much done, but it was still fun. Here is a picture of us with Lisa. She is our scrapbook idol!!! We watch her on QVC, buy her books and products and subscribe to Creating Keepsakes Magazine which she co-founded. She was soooo nice. I was too chicken to say anything to her, luckily Noreen is not shy and asked if we could have a picture with her. She was totally cool. We were on her sister Angela's bus for the factory tours and got all kinds of juicy gossip on her. The second photo is Lisa and her sister Angela with Lisa's boss. What I love about Lisa is the fact that she is not afraid to express her love of the church and gospel. She is LDS and shows that in her layouts on QVC and in the magazine. I think that is pretty cool. What a great example to the scrapbookers around the world. If you are not a scrapbooker then you just don't get it! Scrapbooking is not just a UTAH thing - its worldwide! When I told my family that I was going to this and going to meet this Scrapbook Celebrity they just looked at me like "there are scrapbook celebrities????" YES there are!
The next day we went to a couple of scrapbook classes and then spent the rest of the day SHOPPING! I don't think the workers at the Lane Bryant in South Salt Lake will ever recover from our whirlwind shopping spree/fashion show. I think we made their day, they were laughing along with us. We checked out IKEA - totally love it and of course a scrapbook store! We had a great time, just the 4 of us. It has been a long time since we did anything together like that and we are planning on doing it again.....soon.

BECKYS

Pedicure: $25

Lunch $11.00

Eyebrow Wax $10.00

Shopping trip to IKEA that you don't want to tell your husband about: $97.00

Hanging out with "The Becky's": $PRICELESS!!!!

These are my friends I met in New York 16 years ago when we were all nannies. Cynthia (left) is from Salt Lake and Kristin (middle) is from Boise, Idaho. There is also Carma (not pictured) from Provo. We didn't know each other before we went out there. We all met at Church in the Queens Ward. We were known as the "Becky's" because of a song that came out in the 90's.....(Oh my .... Becky, did you see her butt? I like big butts and I cannot lie........)(You are totally singing it along in your head, especially Holly since she has this whole song memorized! ). So Kristin started calling us Becky and it stuck and that was what we were known as. 16 years later we are still the Beckys. We don't see each other as much as we would like. Kristin came down for the weekend so we hung out. Carma decided that she should go with her family to Hawaii instead of hanging out with us......whatever!!!!!!

Friday Night - Part 2 - Breaking Dawn

So after the movie I convinced my mom to go stand in line with me at the Clinton Walmart for 2 hours so I could get my copy of Breaking Dawn!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do believe this is the most unflattering picture of me ever, but I guess I just wanted you all to see how very excited I was. We got to the store at about 10:30pm and found the line at the very back of the store. We were about 20 people back. Within minutes the line started to grow and by Midnight the line had gone from the back of the store, around the shoe dept, the baby dept, down the main food aisle, to the bakery and wrapped up along the very front of the store by customer service. I have never felt like a celebrity before but the looks of longing we got as we walked out through the store with our book in a bag were great. I felt sorry for those people that were in the back of the line. I don't know if they will be getting a copy or not. It's now 1:05am and I bet some of them are still in line. So to all those people that thought I was crazy for staying up all night to get a copy (with a sheet of stickers and a pin, by the way- I know you are really jealous now!) I say HA! Good luck finding yourself a copy!!!! Okay you can borrow mine after I read it.

Friday Night - Part 1 - Mamma Mia

OH MY GOSH!!! This movie was sooo good and sooo funny! Tonight I went to see Mamma Mia with my Mom, Step-mom (yes.... Mom and Step-Mom. I am lucky to have parents that get along!) Sister, Sister-in-Law, My mom's sister and a family friend who is a co-worker of my moms, but was also in my step-mom's old ward. (It's a small world!) We had a great time. I saw the Broadway Musical of this show in Salt Lake with my friend Cynthia, but I didn't like it as much as I liked the movie. It was so worth it....well I could have done without the Pierce Brosnan singing, but other then that it was so good. I listened to my ABBA songs on my Ipod all the way home. So to all you girls out there that haven't seen it I say grab a fellow girlfriend, mom, sister, cousin, aunt......um anyone and go see it!!!! I will even go see it again with you! :)
