My Birthday Part 5 - The Work Party

Wow, I am really kind of sick of blogging about my Birthday so...... go here:

My Birthday Part 4 - presents

For my B-day Ron gave me a New Nice Nikon camera, a porch swing and perhaps the best gift of all: He cleaned the bathrooms while I was at the parade. NICE! :)

After the parade he took me to see The Ugly Truth at the Syracuse theater. I love that theater (they have Mtn Dew and excellent popcorn!) but the movie was not so good. It was rated R which I didn't know before seeing it. OOPS, but Gerald Butler is hot! So then the night was still young and we didn't want to go home so we called my sister to see if she would be okay to watch the kids a little longer and we went to the theater in Ogden to see Star Trek. I loved that show. I am not a big trekie, but I really liked it.

The next night my friends brought me some Twilight presents and took me to dinner at Fridays and to see 17 Again. They are truly good friends. Enough said..... :)

My Birthday Part 3 - The parade

I Love parades, but mostly the Ogden Pioneer Day Parade! Perhaps its because it's on my BIRTHDAY!!!! My grandma used to tell me about how she had to miss the parade so she could come see me be born at the hospital. I used to think that all the July 24th activities were just for me and my Birthday. Parades, fireworks, rodeos, cook outs. All these things happened every year on my B-day, how could I not think it was all for me? Karl Malone had the same problem when he moved here. They put him in the July 24th parade in Salt Lake and he thought it was all for him since it is also his B-day.

Anyway...where was I?

I have great memories of Mom taking us all when we were little. She worked at Intermountain Freezed Dried Foods on Wash Blvd (where SOS is now) and we would get to sit on top of her building and not have to deal with the crowds (but this also meant we didn't get to catch much candy!). I think the only time I have missed the parade is when I lived in New York. Jenny and I try to take our kids every year. We leave the husbands home since they could care less about it. The kids love it and I have to admit that I am a bit weird about it. I love knowing its time for the parade to start when you see and hear the cops on their motorcycles go cruising down the street then back up again with their sirens on. I love when the jets from HAFB go flying over. I love seeing the floats with pioneers and temples on them. I love seeing the Flag coming and seeing everyone stand with their hands on their hearts. I get a bit emotional and sentimental about this parade. It reminds me of my history, my heritage, my country, my faith and me.

And now after just rereading this I see what a dork I am. :)

PS. Wonder Woman's (Lyndia Carter) B-day is also July 24th. Just some useless information for you.....

My Birthday Part 2 - The diet breaking dinner

I had been dieting pretty good for 9 days (that doesn't seem like alot, but anything after day 1 is A LOT!) ....then my Birthday came. I thought I could just ignore my B-day and keep dieting, but that is hard when people want to take you out to eat, have cake for you, buy you Birthday Mtn Dews.....etc. Its even harder when you WANT to go out to eat, you WANT cake and you WANT Mtn Dew. UGH So Dad and Lu took us to ABC in Roy for my b-day dinner. I LOVE the Sesame Chicken!!! The owner played Happy Birthday on a leaf. Jonah thought it was so cool he asked for his own leaf. He practiced for about 5 minutes and that was that...

PS. Dieting sucks!

My Birthday Part 1 - The early Party

On July 5th we had a July 4/Michele's B-day party at my mom's. We had more fireworks, food and family. Jen bought me this funky book called "Wierd U.S." that is full of ghost stories, local legends and just weird stuff.

July 4

We spent July 4th with the Flint's in Hooper. The kids played in the pool and on a slip and slide, Ron's mom Maureen made a yummy dinner and then we watched MANY illegal fireworks that Polly and Mike snuck in from Evanston. Actually I don't think they were illegal, but there were MANY! Ron had just given me my Birthday present 20 days early. A NEW CAMERA! Therefore I took MANY pictures. Enjoy!
